Helsinn’s Chemical Operations core activities are the development and manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), High Potency Active Ingredients (HPAIs), Advanced Intermediates and Drug Products on an exclusive basis, leveraging the extensive experience and know-how of the Helsinn Group in successfully registering and commercializing pharmaceutical products in all major global markets.

Holding a GMP certificate since 1984 in the Swiss site and from 1993 in Ireland, the production has been completely dedicated only to producing products requiring cGMP since 1996 giving a clear focus to the Chemical Operations to dedicate its resources solely to the Pharmaceutical Industry and have in place a high level internationally recognized Quality System.

From early 2000 all plants have been ISO 14001 certified, confirming Helsinn’s commitment towards International environmental protection. The continuous work on HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) has also lead to the OHSAS 18001 certification of the Swiss Site in 2005 (first chemical plant in Switzerlandand several major industrial safety awards in Ireland.

During the last two years (2005-2006), further significant large investment in people and equipment in both, the Swiss and Irish sites, has increased the total production capacity and capability which has increased the range of services and production flexibility.

The Chemical Operations have the backing of the financial resources of the Helsinn Group with its policy of self financing the growth of the business.

All Helsinn Pharmaceutical Group products (Nimesulide, Oxaprozin, Palonosetron and Netupitant) are produced within the swiss and irish facilities, thus assuring Helsinn’s partners (more than 75 worldwide) of the highest possible quality and reliability and ensuring that third party clients benefit from this knowledge and experience also. This is reflected in the success of our third party work with more than 25 active projects related to New Chemical Entities or patent protected APIs for more than 20 different partners world-wide who have recognized Helsinn’s expertise and know-how in supporting their development and manufacturing.
