In 2009 Helsinn acquired the US biotech company Sapphire Therapeutics Inc., to establish the US-based R&D and commercial operation: Helsinn Therapeutics (U.S.), Inc., located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. This business venture has expanded Helsinn’s pipeline of products in existing focus therapeutic areas. Furthermore, the Helsinn Group will be in a position to operate directly on the US market by 2012 with a direct sales structure.
